Did you resolve to eat healthier in the new year, but still don’t want to deny yourself a sweet treat? Don’t worry, you don’t need to. Our fantastic oatmeal-apple sauce waffles ensure that you still can enjoy a sweetie without any compromises to your health.

An Old Favorite in a New Way: Our Oatmeal Apple-Sauce Waffle Recipe

Waffles are the perfect breakfast companion. They can be dressed up or down, and bejeweled with toppings a-many. We personally love topping these waffles with apple slices, pan-fried in a little oil and sprinkled with cinnamon, almond butter, or a honey-sweetened Greek yogurt. Take this as your license to get gorgeous with it!

Our oatmeal-applesauce waffles are not only sugar-free, they’re also vegan, but they’re sure to please anyone, no matter diet. These waffles are not only nutritious, but also low in calories, as this recipe is low-fat.

On that note, because our waffle batter has so little fat, make sure to grease your waffle iron well before getting cracking. After all, it’s the worst when waffles stick to the pan! Depending on your preference, coconut oil or canola oil can be used for greasing the pan. Or other tip? Don’t stack your waffles, this will make them soggy. Simply stick your waffles side by side in the oven and cover with a plate or sheet, so that they stay crispy yet warm.

Hankering for more? We can’t blame you. At Scrumdiddlyumptious, we love a good breakfast baked good, so try out our recipes for apple-oatmeal muffins, pound cake, and rice pudding bake with apples.
