Because honey isn’t just a sweet treat, this bee-made gold also provides you with valuable amino acids, enzymes, and antioxidants. It’s no coincidence that honey has been used for centuries as a home remedy for all sorts of ailments. Oatmeal is also a particularly healthy grain.

In addition to fiber and protein, it contains many vitamins such as B1 and B6, which are important for our nervous system and metabolism. The biotin it contains ensures healthy skin, hair, and nails. So, two ingredients that harmonize wonderfully in terms of taste and give your honey bread an irresistible aroma. The bread’s mild sweetness isn’t a hindrance to savory toppings, so you can confidently top it with tasty cheese if you like. Ricotta, a mild Italian fresh cheese that is often eaten with honey, would go especially well.

You don’t have to be a professional to make our honey oat bread. Our recipe is very easy. You just need a little patience because the yeast dough has to rest for about two hours total. It’s worth the wait. If you like, you can double the quantities in our recipe and bake two loaves at once. If you freeze one of them, you’ll have it for longer and can also enjoy delicious homemade bread for breakfast during the week, even when life is hectic.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup water

½ cup rolled oats

5 tbsp honey

6 tbsp butter

1 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

15g fresh yeast

3 ½ cups whole wheat flour

INSTRUCTIONS

Bring the water to a boil and pour it into a bowl. Add the rolled oats, honey, butter, salt, and cinnamon. Stir and let everything cool to a lukewarm temperature.

Crumble the fresh yeast into the mixture and stir until it dissolves. Add the flour and knead everything thoroughly into an elastic dough. Add a little more lukewarm water if necessary.

Return the dough to the lightly floured bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel. Let the dough rest in a warm place for an hour.

Knead the dough thoroughly again and place it in a lightly floured loaf pan. Let it rest there, covered, for another hour.

Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake the bread for 35 minutes until golden brown. Remove it from the pan and let it cool.
