Our Nutella-Banana Muffins: A How-To
Nutella is that gorgeous Italian hazelnut spread that has taken the U.S. by storm in the last decade. It’s hard to not to see what people love about it: It’s rich, fragrant, chocolatey, and nutty at the same time. It’s no wonder that the Italian wave is back!
Our recipe seeks to combine a new(er) craze with a tried-and-true favorite: the muffin. But not just any muffin, the banana muffin. Our recipe calls for three ripe bananas which make your muffins super moist and super flavorful. Along with chocolate sprinkles, this muffin walks the line between muffin and cupcake, and you know what? We’re thankful for it.
As with many muffin recipes, ours also consists of a batter where you first combine the dry and then mix the wet ingredients in. Separating the two groups ensures that the Nutella-banana muffins rise beautifully when baking. If all goes as planned, it’ll be love at first bite when you dig into these flavorul, yet surprisingly airy and light treats.
Our Nutella-banana muffins are also quick to make. After just 10 minutes of prep, you’ll be ready to pop the batter into oven. Be ware: this muffin’s rich and chocolatey batter smells wonderful as soon as it starts baking. Then, all that’s left is the agonizing waiting! But no worries, a delcious treat is your reward for your patience.
Once baked and cooled, you can enjoy the Nutella-banana muffins for breakfast, as an afternoon snack, or simply in between. They’re also great to take to the office or on your next picnic. But bear in mind, these little treats will be gone before you know it!

Nutella-Banana Muffins
Equipment
- 1 Muffin Tin
Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ cup chocolate sprinkles
- 1 egg
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ⅔ cup Nutella
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease a muffin tin or line it with paper baking cups.
- Peel the bananas and mash them with a fork.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and chocolate sprinkles.
- In a second bowl, whisk together the egg, sugar, oil, and mashed banana until frothy.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, this will make the muffins dense.
- Divide the batter evenly among the muffin liners and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool slightly. Decorate as desired, we suggest with a dollop of Nutella and a banana slice.
