Toast the hot dog buns and cut them into cubes. Use half of them to line the bottom of a large bowl.
Now layer the ingredients in the following order: half of the chopped iceberg lettuce, mustard, chopped hot dogs, ketchup, pickle slices, the other half of the iceberg lettuce, the other half of the toasted hot dog bun cubes, cheese, and finally the crispy fried onions.
